Module: ANOVA, linear regression, and logistic regression

Module outline

This module discusses three topics

  • Single factor analysis of variance (ANOVA).
  • Simple linear regression
  • Simple logistic regression

These methods study the associations between two variables.

Single factor ANOVA is a method for assessing the differences between group means (more than two). This method is also known as a one-way ANOVA. In this scenario, we have a numerical response variable and a categorical explanatory variable with more than two levels. In ANOVA, the categorical explanatory variable is typically referred to as the factor variable.

Simple linear regression models the linear relationship between an explanatory variable and a numerical response variable. Simple logistic regression is like simple linear regression but the response is a binary outcome.

Inferential methods will be covered for ANOVA, linear regression, and logistic regression.
